I’m obsessed with their black pepper crab. The sauce is incredible – sticky, fragrant, with a zesty kick that packs a punch. But that’s not all! Their tiger prawns are giants, bursting with that delicious flavor. And the stingray – oh man, the stingray! If you go for the bigger portion (like I did on another visit), it’s incredibly succulent and plump.
Considering the popularity of Newton Food Centre, the prices here are super competitive. Plus, the service is fast and efficient. No wonder they got a Michelin Bib Gourmand! In my opinion, it’s absolutely justified.
Everything felt incredibly fresh, from the plump, juicy prawns in my seafood fried rice to the yummy steamed red snapper. Must order the chilli crabs!!!
This place does black pepper crab right! The Long Beach black pepper crab is fingers lickin good, with a generous coating of fragrant pepper that packs a punch without overpowering the delicate sweetness of the crab meat.
The broth has a natural peppery kick that’s perfect for me, but for those who crave an extra fiery adventure, they have a bowl of chili padi on the table.
While the Bak Kut Teh is the star, don’t forget to order some sides at Song Fa. The fried you tiao are a must, and the salted vegetables are a great way to cut through the richness of the broth.
