Wai Leong, a former lawyer, transitioned to the culinary world after his victory in MasterChef Asia 2015. He founded Restaurant Ibid, named after the Latin term “ibidem,” meaning “in the same place.” This establishment, situated in a traditional shophouse within the Boat Quay conservation area, is a testament to his culinary journey. The restaurant’s modern minimalist design contrasts with its rich, dynamic cuisine influenced by diverse Asian food cultures. The menu showcases meticulously prepared dishes that creatively integrate familiar Asian elements. Highlights include the swordfish with soy milk custard, amberjack, beef cheek, and kaya foam dessert. The Wagyu, cod, and risotto dishes also receive high praise, making for an outstanding dining experience marked by thoughtful and innovative culinary execution.
