Taking up two units right smack in the middle of Boat Quay, Ilmiri specializes in Jjimdak, which translates to steamed or braised chicken, a Korean comfort dish known for its sweet, savoury and sometimes spicy flavour.
Think of it as braised chicken with veggies like potatoes and carrots, all swimming in a sweet and savoury soy-based sauce. It’s got a little kick, a lot of flavour, and some chewy glass noodles that soak up all that saucy goodness.

Ilmiri Korean Fusion Cuisine – Interior

Ilmiri’s interior blends minimalist wooden accents with industrial-chic brick walls and polished concrete floors, creating an atmosphere that’s modern and inviting.

Banchan (Complementary) – Before the main dishes hit the table, a trio of banchan—kimchi, cabbage, and fishcake— welcomes you.

The Food

Ilmiri Korean Fusion Cuisine - Mari Set

Ilmiri Korean Fusion Cuisine – Mari Set

Mari Set for Two ($47.90) –Not sure what Mari means but this dish is a large pan of stew, flanked by grilled beef wrapped vegetables, and a slab of ramyeon. The beef rolls are first grilled on the pan, then the stew added later.

This let all the beefy fat and essence meld beautifully with the broth, and the charred beef rolls contributed a different flavour and texture profile. I did wish the stew was richer though, or maybe I should’ve waited for the broth to reduce further.

But, all good, as nothing beats having a chopstick-full of glistening ramyeon and inhaling it down in one go—pure satisfaction.

Ilmiri Korean Fusion Cuisine - Cheese Cloud Jjimdak

Cheese Cloud Jjimdak Set ($41.90) – This dish is essentially their signature Jjimdak enveloped in a rich, cloud of cheese. Generous amounts of cheese, it was all over the dish.

The cheese added an interesting creamy layer that complemented the savoury soy-based sauce, making each bite rather indulgent, but you do lose some of the OG Jjimdak taste.

Ilmiri Korean Fusion Cuisine - Truffle Jjajang Jjimdak Set

Ilmiri Korean Fusion Cuisine – Truffle Jjajang Jjimdak Set

Truffle Jjajang Jjimdak Set ($37.90). This dish stole the show. As the name suggests, its a fusion of truffle, jjajang (black bean) and jjimdak. The result is a dish that feels both familiar and elevated, with each flavour complementing the others rather than competing.

The truffle added an earthy aroma and a layer of depth to the dish, giving it a sophisticated edge. The glass noodles, soaked up the sauce and made each bite flavourful and satisfying.

Seaweed Sunny Side-up Bibim Rice ($8) –The Jjimdak sets were are all paired with a bowl of Seaweed Sunny Side-up Bibim Rice, which offered a nice companion and balance to the hearty mains.

Ilmiri Korean Fusion Cuisine Review

Almost everyone I know who has travelled to Seoul has had Jjimdak. It’s arguably Korea’s top tourist dish. It’s hearty, tasty, non offensive and satisfying all in one. Well if you’re in town and you’re reminising some flavourful Korean braised chicken, Ilmiri is right there for you. Go with friends who drink because in our humble opinion, Jjimdak is a communal dish best paired with buckets of beer or soju. Also, try their truffle Jjimdak.
