Known for its mouthwatering chilli crab, Jumbo Seafood (East Coast) has been a go-to spot for amazing crab and seafood. With several locations around Singapore, and a reputation for great food and service, its the perfect place to enjoy some delicious seafood. For this review, we visited Jumbo Seafood East Coast.

Jumbo Seafood East Coast, located at the East Coast Seafood Centre somewhere in the middle of East Coast Park, offers al fresco seating. Which means, you can have your chilli crab with the sea breeze gently brushing against your skin. The east coast location also happens to be the very first Jumbo restaurant opened in 1987. You can also try your luck asking for a table facing the water when you make your reservation.

Singapore Chilli Crab – The Chilli Crab at Jumbo boasts plump, fat mud crabs drenched in a rich, savoury-sweet-spicy-tomato sauce that strikes a balance between sweet and spicy. Despite having “chilli” in the name, Jumbo’s chilli crab gravy is only mildly spicy, and will not burn your tongue off. Its a great introduction for anyone new to the dish.

Black Pepper Crab – In contrast, the Black Pepper Crab delivers a different experience. The first bite unleashes a bold punch of freshly cracked black pepper, delivering an umami spice kick that tingles with each mouthful. Amidst the heat, the sweet crab meat emerges, perfectly complementing the peppery zest. You’ll find yourself yearning for more.

Fried Mantou – These cute little fried buns are a must have with any crab dish. Golden brown crispy on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside, they practically beg to be dipped into crab sauces or enjoyed on its own. Perfect for soaking up the flavourful gravy. (80c~ per)

Garlic Fried Chicken – A crowd-pleaser. The crisp, amber gold exterior conceals juicy, tender chicken infused with the subtle fragrance of garlic. This dish provides a welcome texture and flavour contrast to the saucy richness of the crab. ($22 for half size)

Mee Goreng – A classic stir-fried noodle dish, is a perennial favourite and one of Jumbo Seafood’s best-selling dishes. The noodles boast savoury and smoky notes, further enhanced by fresh vegetables, fresh shrimp and other seafood. It’s a light and flavourful conclusion to the meal, perfect for sharing. ($22 for small)

Beancurd and Assorted Seafood Braised in Claypot– This dish features silky smooth beancurd in a savoury broth teeming with a variety of fresh seafood. ($20 for small)
