Review: Alati Divine Greek Cuisine – Amoy Street’s Greek Food Gem

Tucked away on Amoy Street, right in the middle of Telok Ayer’s bustling gastro scene, Alati Divine Greek Cuisine is where you go when you want to feel like you’re on a Greek island without leaving Singapore.

Just a few minutes from Telok Ayer MRT, Alati’s menu dives deep into Greek seafood classics—think octopus that’s grilled to perfection, moussaka so rich it could swim, and salads that are fresh enough to make a Greek god jealous. Each dish reflects Head Chef Sokratis Vasileiou commitment to fresh, high-quality ingredients, and let’s just say, your taste buds are in for a Mediterranean vacation without the airfare.

Alati’s interior offers a tranquil retreat from the city’s frenetic pace.

With its whitewashed walls and warm wooden furnishings, accented by blue table mats, the restaurant effortlessly captures the essence of a classic Greek taverna. The soft lighting and subtle music further enhance the relaxed atmosphere, making it an ideal setting for a leisurely meal among friends.

Alati Greek Restaurant - Pita w/ Dips

Alati Greek Restaurant – Pita w/ Dips

Our Grecian voyage commenced with the Pita ($6) and The Dips Platter ($39). The Pitas were handmade fresh and incredibly addictive– so good we ordered two more servings. The Dips Platter, a colourful assortment of Melitzanosalata, Taramosalata, and other spreads, was the ideal complement to the warm pita.

Alati Greek Restaurant - Santorini Salad

Next, we dug into the Santorini Salad ($28), a refreshing blend of seasonal greens, caramelized goat cheese, grapes, raisins, and a variety of seeds, tossed in a tangy aged balsamic vinegar.

As we waited for out mains, we munched on these crispy Fried Potato Chips ($15). Addictive.

Alati Greek Restaurant - Lavraki Greek Seabass

Alati Greek Restaurant – Lavraki Greek Seabass

Alati is kinda known for its fresh catch, not literally, but you get what I mean, and the Lavraki (Greek Seabass) was a testament to this. Priced at $13 per 100g with an additional $15 for salt baking, it was a dish worth the wait.

Prepared tableside, the anticipation builds as the waiter expertly cracks the thick salt crust, revealing the seabass.

The fish was very well cooked, flaky, and tender, with the salt crust that enhanced its delicate flavour. The fish comes with various salt and sauces on the side, but the pristine, flaky flesh was flavourful enough for us to ignore them.

Alati Greek Restaurant - Grilled Octopus

The Grilled Octopus ($49) was a standout. Deliciously cooked with a charred exterior and soft interior, it was complemented by fava split pea puree, confit tomatoes, caramelized onions, and squid ink rice crackers.

The Grilled Calamari ($30), served with a flavourful Bourdeto sauce from Corfu Island and sprinkled with smoked paprika, offered another satisfying seafood option.

The Wagyu Beef Souvlaki ($55) featured 200g of tender Sanchoku F1 wagyu beef, perfectly grilled and served with fries, a refreshing parsley onion salad, and a creamy tzatziki dip.

Alternatively, the Grilled Chicken ($36), with its juicy thigh, garlic and herb butter smashed potatoes, rock samphire, and chicken honey gravy, offered a satisfying option.

Alati Greek Restaurant - Bougatsa

Alati Greek Restaurant – Bougatsa

To conclude our meal, we had the Alati Signature Bougatsa ($29). This delightful dessert featured a crispy phyllo pastry filled with creamy vanilla custard, complemented by cinnamon, pistachio, and orange ice cream. It was a satisfying blend of textures and flavours—the crackle of the phyllo against the smooth custard, the warmth of cinnamon balanced by the refreshing citrus notes of the ice cream.

Alati Divine Greek Cuisine Review

Alati Divine Greek Cuisine offers an authentic Greek dining experience, and a good one at that. With its impeccable service, charming ambiance, and a menu brimming with flavourful dishes, it is a must-visit for a taste of great Greek food. I especially liked the Beef Souvlaki, Grilled Octopus and the Seabass. Coming here for a gathering with friends to share these Mediterranean plates isn’t a bad idea. And, Don’t leave without trying the Bougatsa dessert.

  1. 5/5 for me. Alati is very good greek restaurant! The waiter was brilliant explained everything simply and clearly, which was great for a Greek food newbie like me. He even recommended the dishes, and he knew his stuff. The prawns were super fresh and cooked perfect. The mutton chops were just pure goodness. The battered fish was light and crispy, and the octopus Wow, tender with incredible flavour, not chewy at all. The whole experience was just so enjoyable.
