Chicken Rice OG. Super shiok chicken, fluffy rice, damn consistent everywhere you go. Who needs more other dishes when the chicken rice this good? Can be a tad pricier than hawker stalls, but worth it for some!

This stall sells the best duck noodles, at least according to my tastebuds after years of slurping them down as a kid! Maybe a bit biased lah, but trust me, it’s damn good.

The real hero here isn’t the duck itself (although still decent), it’s the sauce! This sauce, walao eh, it’s like some secret family recipe or something. Super power, got all the tastebuds dancing. Pro-tip: Forget the mee pok, go for the kway teow – absorbs the sauce like nobody’s business. And don’t anyhow skip the extra lard.

This place sure knows how to cook! Their chilli crab is damn good – super flavorful, got that spicy kick, and the gravy is thick and rich.

But the real hero? The beef! So tender and juicy, every mouthful damn shiok. Their “Heart Attack Fried Rice” – the name says it all, but damn it goes well with the steak! Super flavorful, confirm not anyhow cook one.

Pricey but Shiok, Especially the Lobster Eggs! Embu Buffet might leave your wallet a bit lighter, but the food makes it worth it, lah! The lobster eggs benedict were the real MVP (Most Valuable Player) – super delicious and fancy. The cheese spread and chocolate cake hit the spot too. Plus, the service was on point – attentive staff who made sure everything was perfect.

Shiok Seafood & Local Fare, But Not Biggest Spread. This Lime Buffet serves up decent local favorites and fresh seafood, all good quality but maybe not the most options you’ll find at other buffets. Think fresh catch, roasted meats, and local dishes. Price can be a bit steep, so consider if the food selection is worth it for you.

Wah lau eh, this claypot rice damn power! As a die-hard lup cheong fan, I had to try it, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. Super shiok, but be warned – it comes piping hot!

The best part? Mixing everything together and digging in. Only thing is, the sauce they give a bit on the small side, not enough for someone like me who loves that flavorful punch. But hey, no worries, the chicken was super tender, and the lup cheong and salted fish really kicked up the taste.

The rice itself was a bit dry, but with a nice crispy bottom – perfect for those who love that texture. And the charred bits? Super sinful (but still damn good!).

Lemak Upgrade, Still Sedap!

Uptown Nasi Lemak serves up nasi lemak that’s familiar but fancy. Think fragrant coconut rice, crispy ikan bilis, and perfectly cooked egg – all the good stuff. But they also have gourmet sambals and different protein options to keep things interesting. Want classic? No problem. Want to try something new? They got you covered! The place is casual and comfortable, perfect for a delicious nasi lemak fix. Must-try!

Car in the shop, time to treat myself!

While my car was getting some services nearby, I decided to finally try the famous Laifabar. Let me tell you, it did NOT disappoint! Their signature “Bu Jian Tian” char siew is legendary – melt-in-your-mouth tender, smoky, and bursting with flavor. It’s paired perfectly with springy QQ egg noodles and a crispy wonton for a truly satisfying combo.

The soup here isn’t your average watery broth. They use dried scallops to create a rich, flavorful base that seriously elevates the whole dish. Sure, it might be a tad pricier than other places, but you can taste the quality in every bite. Everything here feels like it’s made with care.

Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area (and even if your car isn’t!).

Crabby Cravings Satisfied at the OG Spot!

Heard through the grapevine this place was the holy grail of crab, so I had to check it out. Called to book a table, thinking it’d be a mad scramble, but turns out they had plenty of space (score!).

The vibe? Old-school Canto banquet all the way. Think lazy susans and lots of plates for sharing. But who cares about the decor when the food’s this good? The crab, oh man, the CRAB! Absolutely fantastic. Fresh, perfectly cooked, and messy in the best way possible (think finger-lickin’ good). Everything else we ordered was top-notch too, and the bill didn’t leave us feeling like we needed to take out a loan. Definitely a win in my book! Shiok lah!
