About
Founded in 1963, Han Jia Bak Kut Teh at East Coast Lagoon this spot serves a unique cloudy broth that’s a wild mix of savoury, peppery, garlicky, and sweet flavours. The pork ribs are so tender they practically jump off the bone. The preserved mustard greens add a nice sour kick to the fluffy steamed rice. The real star is the soy-braised pork trotter, which is so tender and flavourful, it’ll make you want to come back for more. Remember to add extra dough fritters (you tiao)

What I like are the tender pork ribs, cooked just right, and the soup that’s full of herbal and peppery flavor. The pig trotters are also soft and delicious. The only downside is the hawker center gets pretty hot at lunchtime, making it a bit uncomfortable to enjoy the bak kut teh. 5/5
