About
Founded in 1993 by Sng Boon Chuan, Mellben Seafood was a pioneer in Singapore’s crab scene. Their focus on fresh, high-quality seafood and unique flavours quickly earned them a loyal following. Signature dishes like Claypot Crab Bee Hoon Soup, Butter Crab, and of course, the classic Chilli Crab, became their claim to fame. In 2019, Mellben Seafood’s commitment to quality was recognized with a Michelin Plate in the Singapore Michelin Guide.

Mellben Seafood might not be fancy, but the food is fantastic! Their chilli crab comes with the thick, flavorful sauce. The spice level is just right – with a nice kick. They offer other delicious seafood dishes on the menu, but the chilli crab is a must-try. A great spot if you are at Ang Mo Kio.

The crab was enormous and cooked to perfection – the meat was sweet and succulent, and the sauce had a perfect balance of spice and tang. Had a fantastic seafood feast at Mellben! Their signature chilli crab is legendary for a reason. The sauce is incredible – rich, flavorful, with a perfect balance of sweet, savory, and spice. The Sri Lankan crabs were fresh, meaty, and cooked to perfection. Fried mantou buns are a must to mop up every last drop of that delicious sauce. Don’t miss out on this Ang Mo Kio gem!

It had been a while since I last visited Mellben Seafood, and while the food quality remains good, there’s a noticeable jump in prices compared to the past.
The highlight for me was definitely the chili sauce! Packed with flavor. The creamy eggy chilli gravy also hits the spot, offering a sweet and savory balance, perfect for dipping those fluffy fried buns. The star of the show, the crab, was fresh and firm, cooked perfectly. broth in the claypot bee hoon was still flavorful and satisfying.

Perfect for family seafood meals with a comfortable vibe and reasonable prices. Must-try dishes are definitely the chili crab and their drunken prawns – both are winners! Overall, consistent quality, delicious food, and a family-friendly atmosphere. No wonder we keep going back!
