At Newton Hawker Centre, this stall whips up some pretty decent satay. The chicken skewers are meaty and tender, and the shrimp satay? Fresh and tasty. Both are well-marinated and grilled just right. Set A is a good deal at $28, with 20 satays and 6 large prawns, plus a complimentary ketupat. The friendly service is a bonus, and they even accept e-payments. The peanut dipping sauce is nice, though it could use a bit more oomph. Expect a 15-minute wait when it’s busy, but hey, that’s not too bad!

22 Best Satay is a safe bet for grilled meats at Newton. Great food and friendly service. Even those new to local dishes will enjoy their meal here. It’s popular, so be prepared to wait.
